City officals are now investigating conditions at Sterling Point Apartments after complaints

HOUSTON, TX – City of Houston officials and Health Department representatives conducted an on-site investigation at an apartment complex following reports of unsafe and unsanitary living conditions.

The inspection took place at Sterling Point Apartments, located at 6601 Dunlap Street in southwest Houston.

Dr. Candice Matthews joined city officials and inspectors during the walk-through after tenants raised concerns about conditions inside the property.

Reported issues included structural damage posing potential safety risks, ongoing infestation concerns involving rodents and pests, and claims of uninhabitable living conditions. Tenants also reported failures to properly address maintenance requests.

One resident showed video of her cat with a mouse in its mouth earlier in the morning, stating it came from underneath the dishwasher.

This follows an initial walkthrough on Tuesday. During that visit, a couple of residents who did not want to show their apartments said management told them it was “mating season.”

According to Dr. Matthews, the conditions raised concerns about potential risks to residents’ health and safety. City officials and Health Department representatives evaluated the property to determine whether violations of housing codes or public health standards had occurred.

The investigation could result in citations, enforcement actions, or required corrective measures depending on the findings.
