DISMISSED - Jenifer Knighton's Protective Order Against Dr Candice Matthews Dismissed

HOUSTON, Texas. A Harris County judge denied a request for a protective order against activist Dr. Candice Matthews on Friday after hearing testimony from both parties during a civil court proceeding.

The case, Knighton v. Matthews, was heard by Judge Waldrop in the 312th District Court. The application for a protective order was filed by Jenifer Knighton, who operates the Facebook page QX Global News Network.

Knighton, who represented herself during the proceedings, alleged that Matthews had engaged in stalking and harassment. During her testimony, Knighton also claimed that Matthews held a personal vendetta against her stemming from a social media post Knighton made about Matthews' husband.

Matthews, who was represented by legal counsel, denied the allegations while testifying in her own defense. She told the court that her actions were not motivated by harassment, but by concerns for the safety of Knighton's daughter. Matthews testified that those concerns prompted her to file a report with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

One of the more notable moments during the hearing occurred during cross-examination. Matthews' attorney asked Knighton whether she follows journalistic principles before publishing information. According to testimony presented in court, Knighton responded that she does not.

Following testimony and arguments from both sides, Judge Waldrop denied the application for a protective order.

The ruling means Knighton was not granted a protective order against Matthews, bringing the case to a close in Matthews' favor.
