HOUSTON, TEXAS: Dr. Candice Matthews publicly accused a local media outlet of posting content she described as racially charged and demeaning toward Black people, particularly Black women.
Matthews took to social media on February 6 to call out QX Global News Network, a news organization she says is operated by Jenifer Knighton, for what she characterized as a pattern of racially insensitive content. In her statement, she pointed to specific language, imagery, and hashtags used in a recent post and said they reflected racist tropes aimed at a broader audience.
Speaking out on Facebook, Matthews wrote that the posts amounted to a “dog whistle” to an “ultra right wing racist base” and referenced historical critiques of racial bias in media as part of her commentary.
Matthews also referenced private citizen Rosemary Tucker, founder of Hoodies 4 Healing, whom she said has faced harassment and cyberbullying that damaged both Tucker’s reputation and her organization’s work feeding the homeless.
Court records show Knighton filed a 40-page civil lawsuit in November 2025 naming Matthews, activist Quanell X, and Grizzys Hood News as defendants, but the suit has not yet been served and Knighton remains without legal counsel.
Knighton has publicly listed credentials including “BS,” “LCDC,” and “CART,” though no independent verification of these academic or professional qualifications was available at the time of publication.
As of this report, there has been no response from QX Global News Network or Knighton to Matthews’s allegations.
